Pre-School

At The Pochin Pre-school we are a home from home setting and believe that a caring, friendly and secure environment is vital in the child’s learning and development.  We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.  The children enjoy play based learning experiences along with a range of stimulating, fun activities which are planned around the children’s individual needs and interests.  We follow termly themes and weekly topics, but also enjoy spontaneous and child led learning activities. We pride ourselves in working as a partnership with parents and carers and welcome and value their opinions.    Miss Alison and Miss Sarah support the children in their first steps helping them to be ready for the start of their school journey.

Applying for Pre-School

Children are eligible to join our pre-school from their third birthday or the term after they turn three. Please note that children are only eligible for 3&4 year old funding from the term after they turn three years old.

For Autumn 2022 onwards:
We offer full day sessions, 08:30 – 15:00. Parents can state a preference as to which days they would like them to attend. We have 16 places available each day.

Parents can apply for a place as soon as their child has reached their second birthday by completing a Pre-School Application Form, which is available below or from the main school office, and returning to the school office with their child’s birth certificate and proof of address (i.e. council tax bill).
All applications must be received by 31st March each year to be considered for the Autumn Term. Children may be admitted mid-year providing there are spaces available.

Places are allocated as stated in our Pre-School Admissions Policy, which can be found below.

Parents are encouraged to view the Pre-School before making an application. To arrange a viewing please contact the office on 0116 269 2078.
