The curriculum at The Pochin School this year may look slightly different to the plans below. This is due to staff members adjusting topics taught to support pupils/ classes who have been affected by Covid this academic year. The plans and topics are regularly reviewed to meet the needs of our pupils.

Spellings

The ‘Read, Write, Inc’ spelling programme supports our teaching of spelling.

Phonics

We approach our learning of phonics using ‘Read Write Phonics’.

Reading

We base our Guided Reading sessions on the ‘Collins Big Cat’ books, supplemented by a variety of other text.
